KILLED BY A SHELL.
Official intimation has been received by Mrs. Fitzgerald of 21, Quarry Bank Place, that her husband, Gunner C. Fitzgerald, has been killed in action. He was killed by the bursting of a German shell and death was almost instantaneous. He joined the R.F.A. at the outbreak of war, and had been in France 2 years. Prior to joining the Army he was employed at the Direct Coal Company, Borough Road. In a letter received from his officer it is said “Although I had not long had charge of the section to which your husband belonged, I found him to be one of the most loyal, faithful and best of my gunners.” Gunner Fitzgerald leaves a wife to mourn his loss.
