Robert Theodore Manners's Story.
Robert Theodore Manners Downie was born in Scotland in 1891, one of five children born to Robert Manners (an importer) and Elisabeth Henderson Downie who came to reside at Cornbrook, Knutsford.
Robert spent his early years in India.
He enlisted in the 3rd/5th B attalion of the Highland Light Infantry as a Second Lieutenant.
He contracted cerebrospinal fever while on home leave in Leeds and died on the 24th January 1916.
He is the brother of Reginald Alexander Forbes Downie.
