ACCIDENTALLY DROWNED.

The death is announced of Sapper A. Duncalf, of 34, Winstanley Road, New Ferry, who is reported to be accidentally drowned. Prior to joining up he was employed by Messrs. Lever Bros. His parents have received the following letter from a companion, Herbert J. Spratt :- “As you are doubtless aware by now, his death was purely accidental, and it may in some way ease your minds to know that his sufferings were nil, and that every possible effort was made to rescue him, and when he was recovered respiration was at once applied, but fate seemed against all efforts. A doctor was in attendance, and helped in every possible way. By now he will have been quietly buried at one of the British military cemeteries where so many heroes of his type lie. He had not been here long, but was recognised as a good shipmate and companion by the other men, who with me tender their sincere and deepest sympathy to you in your sad bereavement.”
