Falls in Battle.
News has come to hand of the death in action of Private Andrew Coathup, of the Cheshire Regiment. Pte. Coathup, who received the fatal wound on October 20th, joined the Army in March. He was 34 years of age, and in pre-war days was employed by a Warrington coal merchant, and resided with his sister, Mrs. Downham, at 10, Quarry Bank Place. In a letter from the chaplain to Mrs. Downham it is stated that Pte. Coathup was buried where he fell. The chaplain adds: “May God bless and comfort you in your hour of sorrow. ‘Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.’”
