John's Story.
Birkenhead News 02 November 1918WOODCHURCH SOLDIER FALLS.
The name of Pte. J. Chadwick, of the Machine Gun Corps, is now in the nation’s roll of honour. He joined up in May 1917, and had served for eight months in France, where he was killed on Sept. 19th, 1918, at the age of 19 years. He is the second son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Chadwick, of Woodchurch Cottages, Woodchurch, and he has a brother Harry, now discharged, who previously served with the Manchesters. Prior to enlistment he was employed by Robert McAlpine and Sons, of Thingwall. He was very popular wherever he went, and will be very much missed by all his friends.
