PROMINENT CRICKETER KILLED
Official news has been received that Pte. John Burkhill, Royal Welsh Fusiliers was killed in action on October 20th in France. He was an old scholar of St. Anne’s School, a prominent member of the Municipal Cricket Club, and before his enlistment was employed by the Birkenhead and District Co-operative Society as a van man in the bread department. He leaves a wife and one little son to mourn his loss and will be sadly missed by his sisters and brothers and many relatives and friends.
