James's Story.

James was born in 1888 at Knutsford Road,Thelwall and was the second son of James & Sarah Hankinson of Weaste Lane, Thelwall.  In civilian life he was employed as a Blacksmith.

He emigrated to Canada in 1913 and it was from there that he enlisted with the Canadian Contingent and was posted to France in October 1916.  

He married Bertha Goffin whilst home on leave and they started their married life residing at Grove Terrace, Booths Hill, Lymm.

He died from wounds at a base hsopital on the 1st September 1918 aged 30.
