DIED OF WOUNDS.

Information had been received by Mrs. Bennett, Grange Mount Avenue, Heswall, that her only brother, Sapper Seth Peters, 35 years of age, Royal Engineers, 1st Cheshire Field Co., has died of wounds received while fighting in France. The deceased soldier joined the Army in February, 1916, and after training in Carnarvon, proceeded to France in August, 1916, where he remained until invalided home with trench fever in July, 1917. Upon recovery he again, after being stationed at Carnarvon, went to France on April 6th 1918. He was wounded on the 27th May, and taken to hospital in France, where despite the best medical attention he passed away on the 28th June.

Before joining up Sapper Peters was in business for himself as a joiner and builder. He had many friends, being born in Heswall, and had been a scholar at the church school. He was of a kindly and genial disposition with a touch of humour. The doctor informs Mrs. Bennett that two operations were performed in the hope of saving his leg and his life. It was decided after consultation to amputate the leg, and upon explaining this to Sapper Peters he cheerfully agreed.
