BIRKENHEAD HIGHLANDER KILLED IN ACTION.

We regret to announce the death of Private Patrick Scullion, of 40, Egerton Street, Birkenhead, who has been killed whilst serving his King and country. This gallant soldier had been a private in the Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders for a period of 12 years, and at the commencement of the present war he was drafted with his regiment to the front. He took part in all the battles from Mons to the Aisne, and judging by the letters sent to his wife, was as happy as the circumstances would allow. Private Scullion had been employed as a rivetter for five years by Messrs. Cammell Laird and Co. He leaves a widow and one child to mourn his loss.

The newspaper article reproduces above records Private Scullion’s forename as Patrick, however, army records and civil records confirm his forenames as James Patrick.
