Birkenhead News  05 June 1915

A Good Samaritan.

FUSILIER KILLED TENDING WOUNDED.

News has been received (as we announced on Saturday) by Mr. Wm. Rivington, 6, Combermere Terrace, that his brother, Pte. Thomas Rivington (32), has been killed whilst fighting in France.

The deceased had been a member of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers for 13 years, having served in India for three years. He was called up on the outbreak of the war in August, leaving for the front in September. He had taken part in all the heavy battles, and had escaped unhurt. He was a stretcher bearer, and was killed carrying a wounded comrade on May 17th. He wrote several letters home, and was as happy as the circumstances would allow.

He was very well-known locally, and his large circle of friends will greatly miss him.
