Born Crewe, enlisted Chester. Formerly employed by Mr T. Hossack of Crewe. Enlisted September 3, 1914. Embarked from Southampton for France on September 25, 1915. There is some confusion regarding his address and the home of his children. In his service record, his children were residing with his mother-in-law Mrs Bridget Mason of 5, Oak Street, Crewe, as his wife had died. However, the children’s guardian is listed as Margaret Cannon of 3, Cross Street, Crewe. His sister, Nellie, of 25, New Street, Crewe is listed as his next-of-kin.

Service record available.
