William's Story.

Born Buerton, enlisted Crewe. Son of William and Mary Hobson of Chapel End, near Audlem. According to 1911 Census, worked as a molecatcher with his father. Enlisted same day as his friends George Thomas Woolrich and Richard Viggars (November 12, 1915). They all joined the 2nd Manchester Pals (17th Bn.) and all were killed on the first day of the Battle of the Somme. He is listed as F. WILLIAM HOBSON on the Buerton War Memorial.
