Thomas's Story.
Birkenhead News 05 October 1918LOCAL MAN DIES OF WOUNDS.
The death is reported of Private Thomas Marsden, late of the Cheshire Regt., who had died of wounds in France on Sept. 28th, 1918. He had been wounded four times previously, and was last home on leave in May of this year. He had many friends, and all who worked with him in civil life at Messrs. Clover, Clayton and Co.’s yard will regret his death. The matron of the hospital in France, where he died, in an explanatory letter to Mrs. Marsden, says : “There is very little to tell you of his last hours, as he did not speak, except to ask for a drink, and to have his position changed at intervals. It may be a little comfort for you to know that all that was possible was done for him here to make him comfortable.” Pte. Marsden was very young, he having joined the forces in July, 1915, at the age of 16 ½ years.
