ANOTHER “CHESHIRE” KILLED
A Birkenhead Hero Falls in Battle
Yet another name has to be added to the increasing roll of honour of our town. Pte. Thomas Hy Harding, a member of the 1st Batt., Cheshire Regt., has been killed in action somewhere in France. The sad news was conveyed to his parents, who reside at 27, Menai Street, Birkenhead, in a notice they received on Wednesday from Lord Kitchener. Pte. Harding had been a member of the 1st Cheshire Regt. for about four years, and when the war broke out he was serving with his regiment in India. He came home in December and left for France with a contingent on January 11th. Many cheery letters were received from him whilst he was in France.
In civil life he was employed as a plumber by Messrs. Gravson’s, Charing Cross. He was only 21 years of age, being the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Harding, of the above address. He received his education at St. John’s School.
