Robert Humphrey's Story.

Birkenhead News  03 March 1917

Died in Training.

Young Soldier’s Sad End.

Mr and Mrs William Emslie, 59, Church Street, have recently lost a son, Bombardier Robert H. Emslie, who died on February 25th. Young Emslie joined the Royal Field Artillery last May, and contracted consumption in December last. He was brought home two weeks ago, and died shortly after. Always of a bright and cheery disposition, this boy – he was only nineteen years of age – will be greatly missed by his friends. Previous to joining the army Bomb. Emslie was employed as a clerk in Messrs. Lever Bros. forwarding department. He was a keen footballer and extremely liked by all who knew him. The friends of Mr. and Mrs. Emslie will sympathise with them in their sad bereavement.
