Born and enlisted Crewe. Former pupil of Beech Street School and was a
labourer in Crewe Works and clerk at Crewe Station. Resided
in Ludford Street. Reservist who had fought throughout the
Boer War and served for four years in India. Went to France
on September 6. Shot through the neck by a sniper. Four
brothers also served.
