Birkenhead News  10 February 1917

Killed in France

After Eight Months of Fighting.

Intimation of the death in action of her brother, Pte. William Welsh, has been received by Mrs. Tushingham, with whom he resides at 117, Livingstone Street, Birkenhead. Pte. Welsh joined the Cheshire Regt. in October, 1915, and went to France in April, 1916. He had been in France eight months, and the news of his death was received by his sister on February 1st. Prior to the war Pte Welsh was employed at Buchanan’s Flour Mills. He had always lived in Birkenhead, and much sympathy will be extended towards his relations and friends in their sad loss.
