James's Story.

James Spencer was born around 1899 and on the census is known as Jim . He was born to his parents, Joseph and Sarah of 5 Rock Mount , Runcorn. He enlisted in June 1918, in the 1st Bttn Cheshire Regiment and was drafted out on 23rd September 1918. 
He had three brothers who also joined up, Harry, Fred and Ernest, they all survived. 
He was killed on the same day as Ernest Whitby at Selle , France on 23rd October 1918 and is buried in the same cemetery, Amerval. 

Prior to enlisting, like his brothers he worked at the Castner Kellner works, at the Gas Plant.
