George Almond's Story.George was the 19 year old son of William Henry and Selina Margaret Shepherd of 94 Church Street, Runcorn. He was previously No 203082 of the South Lancashire Regiment.
He was killed in action on the 9th August 1918 and has no known grave but is commemorated on the Vis En Artois cemetery, just east of Arras. There are over 9000 names remembered in the cemetery of men who were killed during the advance in Picardy up until the 27th August 1918. Also here lie over 1700 British and 573 Canadians.
Georges name is also ont he family headstone in Runcorn Cemetery.
